South Bay man identified as second victim in fiery I-680 crash
SAN RAMON — A Gilroy man has been identified as the second
victim in a fiery weekend crash on a freeway, authorities said.
Andree Jamerson III, 20, never made it out of the Volkswagen
Jetta that lost control on southbound Interstate 680 just north of
Alcosta Boulevard. He died at the scene along with 20-year-old
Joseph LeGrande, of San Jose.
A third occupant in the car survived with major injuries and was
hospitalized, while the driver of another car involved in the wreck
was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The crash happened Sunday around 3:30 a.m., when the Jetta
veered right off the freeway, and then back across it into the
center median wall, the California Highway Patrol said. It came to
a rest and then was hit by a Ford Fiesta and exploded in fire.
